XRF (X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer)
We use an XRF, model SI SEA1200VX, capable of precision elemental analysis from sodium (Na) to Uranium (U). The XRF works by bombarding a sample with X-rays which cause the atoms within to emit their own unique x-rays depending on the element. The unit then generates a spectra showing the number of fluorescence x-rays detected at each energy level. This spectrum can then be read and interpreted to idenify the elements present in the sample.Â
Sample Preparation: Our XRF is capable of analyzing solid, liquid, and powder samples.
